May Allah grant me with the capacity to say something out of His special
blessing! I am to say much today. I don't know whether I shall be able
to say all or not. First of all, I am to offer you a gift of Hazrat
Dawood's
supplication. Then I am to say a few things about the good name of Allah
In the
end, there will be the description of a lucky Muslim.
Hazrat Dawood's
Wonderfull Supplication
Hazrat Dawood is
one of the Prophets of Allah who have been mentioned in the Holy Quran
at many places. Allah revealed "Zaboor" to Hazrat Dawood
. He blessed him
with caliphate and kingdom on the earth. Hazrat Dawood
killed a very big
pagan named Jaaloot at a very tender on age. The idiots say that Jihaad
and fighting are not the job of the Prophets. The efficacy in the hands
of Hazrat Dawood
was that iron used to become soft as soon as it would come into his
hands. He used to make armours with that iron. Allah had endowed him
with a very sweet and charming voice. When he started reciting the
Zaboor, the mountains and birds also started singing Hymns of Allah. His
empire had spread over a vast area of the land due to the blessings of
Jihaad and justice. From Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Jordan, the big Gulf to
all areas of Eupherates and many parts of Hijaaz. In spite of being the
ruler of so vast an empire, he did not receive even a penny from the
national treasures. He used to work on wages to meet his own and the
needs of his children. It is reported in the Al-Bukhaari.
"The best livelihood for man is that is earned with his own hands and no
doubt, Allah's Prophet Hazrat Dawood
would earn his
living with his own hands." (Al-Bakhari)
According to some other reports, the spoils has been called the "best
livelihood." There are numerous excellences, traits, qualities and
stories about Hazrat Dawood
. If you wish to
know about the details of this so elevated, grand and graceful Prophet
of Allah, do study the following verses of the Holy Quran with the help
of an authentic Tafseer book: Al-Baqarah, verse 102 and 251, An-Nisa,
verse 163, Al-Maaidah, verse 78, Al-Anaam, verse 49----90, Al-Asraw,
verse 55, Al-Anbia, verse 78----82, An-Namal, verse 10----44, Sabaw,
verse 10 and 14, Saad, verse 17----40. The sacred name of Hazrat Dawood
has been
discussed at sixteen places in these 73 verses. The Holy Quran has also
told us that Allah had taught Hazrat Dawood
the language of
the birds. He had many other miracles also. Our today's topic is not the
life of Hazrat Dawood
but a
supplication which is written in the fortieth chapter of the world
famous book "Musannif Ibn Abi Sheebah" under the heading "Kitaab-ud-Dua."
Hazrat Ka'b says that Hazrat Dawood
supplicated thus.

"O Allah, protect me against every misfortune descended upon the earth
from the sky!"
He would supplicate as under:

"O Allah, bless me with the share that has been sent down this night
from the sky to the earth!" (Musannif Ibn Abi Sheebah)
It comes to be known from the second tradition that Hazrat Dawood
would supplicate
thrice the first supplication at the time of the sunset and the second
one with the sunrise thrice. Allah-o-Akbar! Sobhan Allah! Both these
supplications are very useful and efficacious. Goodness and wickedness
both descend from the sky at night. Protection against every wickedness
has been sought in the first supplication and a share from the goodness
has been sought in the second one. I wish every Muslim to memorise these
supplication and make arrangements for them from the core of his heart.

(Thrice)........
O The Benevolent!

Allah's sweet names are called "Asma-ul-Hasna." Allah has ordered His
slaves to call Him with these sweet names and supplicate to Allah
through these names. The most authentic names in the "Asma-ul-Hasna" are
the names mentioned in the Holy Quran. If you want to know about the "Asma-ul-Hasna,"
do study the book "Tohfa-e-Sa'adat" whereas there are very good and fine
books on this topic in Arabic and Urdu. The matter is only of the
granting of capacity. If Allah attends to man, the doors of knowledge
and power open to him. It is said that a man was very upset. He was
surrounded by troubles all around. One night, he met his "Spiritual
Guide" in dream, who advised him to recite the Asma-ul-Hasna. Believe
me, as soon as that person started reciting the Asma-ul-Hasna, the
situation began to better. Actually, Asma-ul-Hasna is a treasure of
goodness and righteousness. It is the will of the Lord to bless a man
with it as much as He likes. The Sahaabah
would recite a few
of the Asma-ul-Hasna and would drive their horses into the sea. These
days, many people complain of intensity of the situation. They are
requested to devote some time to "Asma-ul-Hana" also. One of the good
names of Allah is
(The
Benovelent). The Holy name of Allah has been mentioned in many verses.
Every verse points to separate efficacy of this good name. Allah's grace
of Benevolence was also exposed fully in the case of Hazrat Yousaf
. Hence, when
Hazrat Yousaf
took his parents,
occupied the throne of Egypt and his parents and brothers bowed before
him, he blurted out
. No doubt,
my Lord does through secret device and secret method what He wills.
Apparently, there seems evil in many things but Benevolent Allah makes
those things of good ending out of His benevolence. Apparently, there is
jealousy of the brothers, separation from parents, captivity, false
blames and exilement but Allah is leading him to prophethood, caliphate
and auspiciousness in both the Worlds out of His Benevolence. If these
misfortunes had not befallen, it would not have been easy to acquire so
great learnings and so elevated stages. Also study the life History of
other prophets. Apparently, they were thrown into trials and troubles
but afterwards, everyone discerned that Allah's hidden device had made
the end of everything good. The Exegetes have written twenty-two
meanings of "Al-Latif." We are noting down here a few of them so that
the greatness of the Lord may be created in our hearts when we call Him
with the name "O The Benevolent!"
1. Al-Latif: The One who does good to His slaves and does favours to
them in the way that they cannot imagine.
2. Al-Latif: The One who fulfils the needs of His slaves very kindly.
3. Al-Latife: The One who showers His Grace and love on the slaves who
are disappointed of the creatures and place trust in Him. When they pray
to Him beseechingly, He grants their prayers and attends to them.
4. Al-Latif: The One who spreads good deeds of His slaves among the
people but conceals their sins.
5. Al-Latif: The One who takes very little but gives in abundance.
6. Al-Latif: The One who gives His slaves more than their ability and
burdens them less than their capacities.
7. Al-Latif: The One who does not arrest those soon who disobey and does
not disappointed those who hope of Him.
8. Al-Latif: The One who takes mercy on those who do not take mercy on
themselves.
9. Al-Latif: The One to whom human imagination cannot reach.
10. Al-Latif: The One who lightens every difficulty and makes amends for
every loss.
You have guessed how big the sea; O yes, the sweet sea of blessings that
conveys good through kindness, love and secret ways and showers His
blessings upon His slaves more than their due. All of us need Allah's
favour and Grace. Therefore, we should recite the word "Ya Latif" very
attentively and regularly observing Maraqiba of this good name. We
should be lost in the curtains of Allah's Favour and Grace and have long
dips of resplendence and calm.

If you want to know some method of the old and elderly saints, do study
the books
(Lutaf-ul-Latif and Tohfa-e-Sa'adat). May Allah grant us all with the
blessings of this good name and all the "Asma-ul-hasma" in both the
Worlds!
An Apology
In the beginning, I promised to write three things but the column is
complete and the point is missing. I shall try to write about it in the
next sitting if Allah wills.
