May Allah bless us with the attribute of "Sacrifice!" This is the dear
attribute with which Allah endows His dear slaves. "Sacrifice" is
preferring others to ones ownself and undergoing trouble to comfort
others. The "Sacrifice of the Ansaar" has specially been praised in the
Holy Quran. They gave a lion's share to the "Muhaajireen" in their homes
and business and made them owner of their belongings. Sacrifice in man
increases with the ratio of increase in Belief in him. Sacrifice is
replaced with "Selfishness" in the man whose Belief is weak. Then there
is the only lust for ones ownself and of drinking, eating and usurping
the maximum and demanding the lion's share in very thing. When this
habit increases, it disgraces man so much that it entangles him in a
piece of bread only i.e. yearning to get more soup and more pieces of
bread. Whenever the Sahaabah
received a good
thing, they, first of all, thought of giving it to their brothers, their
neighbours or their relatives. It is said about them that the head of a
goat would come back to them after going to many houses. The injured in
the battlefield would give the glass of water to the other injureds get
themselves martyred.
Keep it in mind, the one who sacrifices for others is never hand to
mouth and straightened. It is because the one who is anxious about
Allah's creature, Allah is anxious about him. No one can compete the
sacrifice of Sahaabah
. However, we are
also to go to Allah. We should also inculeate in us the attribute of
"Justice." When the attribute of justice is created, we must take up
sacrifice in order to unblemish our Hereafter. The "Justice" is that we
should not usurp others' rights nor lay hands at the others' share nor
try to consider others things our own nor demand extra than our legal
right. All of us should take stock of ourselves whether we are on the
right. Many people tyrannize in the distribution of the property. Many
people oppress their old parents. Many people usurp women's share and
many others demand extra than their lawful share saying, "We are special
people. We deserve extra share." O slaves of Allah, do not exercise
oppression. Do not consider yourselves special rather become common
people. Din is the name of sacrifice not of usurpation. Allah has called
oppression unlawful (Haraam). The property of every departing soul is
the right of his heirs. Some mighty people occupy it and deprive the
weak of it. All this is the Fire of Hell. Who robbed the Boulton market
in Karachi. Our Interior Minister did not raise the question whether
they were Muslims. O yes, every thing is pardoned in Karachi. There is
massacre of dozens of people and robbing of billions of rupees daily.
There is rigorous receiving of billions of rupees every month and
ferocious groups of the killers every where. There is not so much
waponary in Swat and Waziristan as has been accumulated in Karachi. But
according to the Intierior Minister, neither military nor military
operation is required there. May Allah bless Karachi and is people with
freedom! This city is indulged in strange slavery and worry for a long
time. The people of Karachi are enriched with the wealth of "Sacrifice."
A large amount of contribution for Religious Institutions in Pakistan
comes from Karachi. The people of Karachi contributed the maximum to
different phases of Jihaad in Afghanistan. They have a large share in
the Religious movements in the country. The people of Karachi feed the
poor and the indigent and love the orphan. I happened to go to the Arab
countries during the first phase of Afghan Jihaad. I was pleased to know
that the generous people there would take up the responsibility of
bringing up the Afghan orphan children. Seeing this, I was greatly
impressed and wished to do something for the children and families of
the martyrs in Pakistan. Therefore trusting in Allah, I raised a voice
in Karachi. I was greatly delighted and wondered that people cooperated
me with love. At that time, there was no system of maintaining record
about the martyrs. The situation advanced so much that people had to
search the houses of the martyrs after great labour.
This was the credit of the people of Karachi that they, sitting so away,
laid the foundation of this sacred task. Afterwards, the other parts of
the country also participated in it. The maximum number and powerful
religious institutions are also situated in Karachi. The scholars who
have got education from those institutions have been working in several
countries of the world. The people of Karachi are brave also. The brave
"Kashif Shaheed" was born and bred in Karachi. Besides bravery, Kashif
had special rank in service and sacrifice. His sacrifice at the fronts
was that he gave his bed to his comrades and he himself slept on the
flour. He left this world very soon. He would be finding the reward of
his sacrifice in heaven and will be enjoying well if Allah wills. On the
other hand, the selfish person keeps burning in the anxiety, "What did I
gain? What did I lose! I should get and lay hands at such and such thing
with no other to share it." Then on one day, he will leave all these
things in this world and go to the next world. Then he will realize that
the world was not the place to accumulate but to distribute. Hazrat
Hajvary tells us, "O the slaves of Allah, the world is place for service
and sacrifice whereas Hereafter is the place to get reward. Then why do
you demand the reward of every of your good deed in this world?" Hazrat
Hajvary has written a full chapter on sacrifice in his book "Kashf-ul-Mahjoob."
He has also noted the incident of the saints. When the ruler of the time
handed those saints over to the executioner, one of them offered himself
to be beheaded before his other companions. When the executioner asked
the reason in surprise, he said, "I want to devote the remaining breaths
of my life to these comrades." Hazrat Hajvary has written many other
incidents about "Sacrifice" and writes in the end that the actual
sacrifice is the sacrifice of life i.e. sacrificing ones life in the way
of Allah. May Allah bless us all with this high rank of Sacrifice!
